Precision Plasterboarding & Dry Lining in Eastbourne

High-quality plasterboarding and dry lining forms the structural backbone of every successful renovation, loft conversion, and extension. Clean, plumb, and well-aligned boards make skimming faster and ensure your finished walls are perfectly flat and true.

At Pro Coat Plastering, we offer comprehensive dry lining and boarding services across Eastbourne and East Sussex. We combine meticulous attention to detail with robust construction techniques to deliver partitions, ceilings, and insulated wall systems built to last.

Dry Lining Solutions We Provide

  • Dot and Dab (Direct Bonding): Fixing plasterboards directly onto bare brick, concrete, or thermalite block walls using gypsum adhesive dabs, saving significant time over wet backing coats.
  • Stud Partition Walls: Constructing timber or lightweight galvanised steel stud frameworks to divide rooms, create en-suites, or partition office spaces.
  • Suspended & Underdrawn Ceilings: Fixing high-density ceiling boards with stagger-joint layout to prevent sagging and movement cracks.
  • Thermal Insulated Boarding (EWI Internal): Installing insulated plasterboards on cold solid external walls to prevent condensation and lower heating bills.
  • Acoustic Soundproofing: Fitting resilient bars, acoustic mineral wool, and double-layered sound-check plasterboards for party walls and bedrooms.

Why Quality Boarding Matters

  • Zero Joint Cracks: We always stagger board joints, use high-tack scrim tape, and screw boards at correct 150mm centres to eliminate structural flex.
  • Plumb & Square Corners: Careful leveling guarantees that skirting boards, architraves, and fitted furniture fit seamlessly.
  • Building Regulations Compliance: Correct fireboard specifications for garage conversions, kitchen ceilings, and loft stairwells.

Plasterboarding & Dry Lining FAQs

Dry lining uses gypsum plasterboards fixed directly to masonry (via dot and dab adhesive) or screwed to timber/metal stud frameworks. It is much quicker to install than wet backing plasters, dries faster, and allows high-performance acoustic and thermal insulation to be integrated inside wall cavities.

We install standard wallboards, Soundshield (acoustic boards for sound reduction), Moisture-resistant boards (green boards for bathrooms and kitchens), Fireline (fire-rated boards for building regulation compliance), and insulated PIR thermal-laminate boards to improve energy efficiency.

Yes. We construct both timber and metal stud partition walls, fit insulation quilt, hang plasterboards, and prepare them with either a full skim coat or tape and jointing.

While boards can be taped and jointed for decorating, we almost always recommend a full two-coat skim coat. Skimming creates a far superior, durable, and uniform surface where joints and screw fixings are permanently invisible under any lighting.
