General Plastering & Skimming FAQs
Generally, internal plaster takes between 2 to 5 days to dry completely, depending on ambient room temperature, ventilation, and humidity. It will change from a dark wet brown to an even light pink when ready.
Yes, always apply a mist coat (a diluted matt emulsion with roughly 70% paint to 30% water) on fresh plaster. This seals the absorbent gypsum. Painting full-strength emulsion straight onto bare plaster can lead to cracking and peeling later.
Yes. As long as the existing substrate is structurally sound, we can seal it with a specialist bonding agent (such as Blue Grit) and apply a two-coat multi-finish skim to achieve a completely smooth, modern flat ceiling.
