Transform & Protect Your Home with External Rendering
External rendering is one of the single most effective ways to upgrade the kerb appeal and weather resistance of your property. Living along the Sussex coast and South Downs means homes are regularly subjected to high winds, driving sea spray, and damp conditions. At Pro Coat Plastering, we specialise in high-performance external rendering systems designed to protect your structure while creating a pristine, contemporary exterior finish.
Whether you have tired pebbledash, blown brickwork, or a newly constructed block extension, our team applies premium rendering solutions tailored to your property.
Rendering Systems We Install
- Monocouche Through-Coloured Render: Low maintenance, pre-coloured cementitious render scraped to a fine stone-like texture. Available in a vast spectrum of shades, eliminating the need to paint.
- Silicone Thin-Coat Render: Highly flexible, crack-resistant, hydrophobic system ideal for coastal exposures and timber frame / EWI installations.
- Traditional Sand & Cement Render: Hard-wearing multi-coat render finished with a sponge or float texture, ready for breathable masonry paint.
- Substrate Repair & Crack Remediation: Chopping out defective blown render, applying anti-crack fiberglass reinforcement mesh, and waterproofing base coats.
Our Multi-Stage Application Process
- Preparation & Masking: Full masking of windows, doors, gutters, and patios. High-pressure washing and wire brushing of old masonry.
- Bonding & Priming: Applying high-adhesion primer or slurry coat to regulate suction.
- Reinforced Base Coat: Bedding alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh across high-stress points (window corners and structural joints) to prevent hairline cracking.
- Finish Coat: Machine or hand-applying the through-coloured monocouche or silicone top coat to an even, attractive texture.
- Clean & Unmask: Removing all tape, sweeping grounds, and leaving your property pristine.

External Rendering FAQs
Monocouche (single-coat) is a pre-mixed, through-coloured mineral render that never requires painting. It is microporous, highly water-repellent, and available in a wide selection of UV-stable colours. Traditional sand & cement requires multiple coats, curing time, and regular repainting with exterior masonry paint.
When applied correctly over properly prepared substrates with mesh reinforcement, high-grade monocouche and silicone renders will last 25 to 30 years or more with minimal maintenance (such as an occasional gentle biocide wash).
Yes. Coastal properties face driving rain, salt-laden winds, and damp air. Modern silicone and monocouche renders are engineered to repel liquid water while allowing water vapour to breathe out, preventing damp ingress and frost cracking.
We tape and mask all window frames, sills, doors, soffits, and downpipes with heavy-duty protective polythene, and lay durable tarpaulins over pathways and planting before applying base coats or top coats.
